PHILOSOPHY
The Center for Nutrition and Preventive Medicine operates under the premise that the combination of both medical and nutritional approaches to patient care is more effective than either approach alone. Eating the right foods in the proper quantities is essential for growth, development, health and well-being. Therefore, faulty nutrition, which results from the over- or under- consumption of nutrients, places one at risk for some of the most serious and prevalent chronic degenerative disorders which are epidemic in our modern society, such as: cancer, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes and deficiency diseases.
Just as faulty nutrition can be a causative factor in these and other diseases, improved nutrition can treat or prevent them. At the Center for Nutrition and Preventive Medicine nutritional therapy is the treatment of choice, with the use of medications reduced or eliminated so as to avert their unwanted side effects. While the prescription of drugs is important for the treatment of some disorders, we prefer to address these problems through nutritional means where possible.
Some of the more common problems treated at the Center are:
-Hypertension
-High cholesterol
-Food and environmental allergies -Toxic metal exposures (Mercury, lead)
